Welcoming Ørsted to the SeaAhead Family

SeaAhead is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Ørsted, the global leader in offshore wind development, as we continue to support innovation for the ocean in this new Blue Decade. The collaboration will span our ocean innovation platform – from mentoring for startup members, to scouting for new technologies that can help advance their development projects, to engaging with the Blue Angels as they seek opportunities to invest in the companies that will have the largest impact on the sector.

We believe that a healthy offshore wind industry is vital to a sustainable future in New England and that this burgeoning sector is rife with opportunities for entrepreneurs to make an impact.

Ørsted is also lending support to the BlueGreen Innovation Challenge, SeaAhead’s Rhode Island-based systems design competition that empowers students to conceive and develop solutions at the energy-food-urban community-coastal nexus. Ørsted and SeaAhead both believe that Rhode Island’s ambitious climate and clean energy goals make this an opportune time for our next generation of leaders to think big. It’s an aspiration of the program to find and develop ideas that would excite partners, like Ørsted, and spark continued engagement.

As the global leader in offshore wind (with the first offshore wind farm in the U.S.!) Ørsted’s projects will not only deliver clean, reliable energy but bring huge opportunities for local economic growth, job creation, and innovation.

“Ørsted’s Innovation Hub aims to accelerate the growth of companies in the bluetech value chain. With SeaAhead’s expertise, local focus, and global reach we’re thrilled to partner with them to support bluetech companies starting from the earliest stages through growth” said Neil Hamel, Head of Ørsted’s US Innovation and Venture Hub.

SeaAhead’s Executive Director, Alissa Peterson added, “With startups tackling a range of issues in the sector, we look forward to working with Ørsted to support entrepreneurs that can help hasten offshore wind development and sustainability on the East Coast.”

We are proud to welcome Ørsted to the SeaAhead family!
