We bring together entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, and stakeholders to accelerate the commercial development of emerging technologies focused on ocean, coastal, and climate resilience. We support founders seeking to scale their early startups through our growing community of partners, the BlueSwell Program, and our Blue Angels investor group.
About the Internship: Salary: $16-20/hour, paid bi-weekly
Location: Cambridge Innovation Center – One Broadway, Cambridge, MA, 02142. OR 225 Dyer Street, Providence, Rhode Island.
Hours: 15-20 hours/week. Specific hours of work are flexible and to be determined together within the boundaries of the MassCEC Program. Timeline: January 2025 – May 2025, to be determined together
Reporting to: Natalie Ciardi, Partner Relationship Manager
Role: SeaAhead enables our partners to develop a stronger understanding of the startup ecosystem within the blue economy through research and analysis. Your responsibilities will include developing and updating a taxonomy of innovation topics within aquaculture, offshore energy, climate resilience, and beyond to share with our partners, including how these topics relate to their high-level industry value chain. You will help identify sub-themes within these topics, which could include insights from academia, researchers, industry, or startups who are experts on those themes.
We are looking for an intern who is proactive, focused, adaptable, willing to learn, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. We prioritize candidates who have experience in value chain mapping, aquaculture industry knowledge, industry mapping, supply chain management, and/or consulting.
The intern will gain exposure to exciting innovations in bluetech. They will hone skills in research, business development, market analysis, professional communication, networking, and project management.
Specific tasks include:
Conducting extensive research on bluetech sub-topics like aquaculture within specific global industries andregions
Developing a taxonomy of aquaculture innovation topics & themes to share with our partners
Applying your knowledge of business value chain mapping
Presenting findings to our partners in presentations during monthly check-ins
Providing administrative support such as sending mass emails, scheduling meetings, and managingcalendars
Requirements: For this position, SeaAhead is looking for a graduate student or recent graduate who is able to work twice a week in person at our Cambridge office. To be eligible for a position with SeaAhead through the MassCEC Internship Program, a student must:
Be a Massachusetts resident with proof of residency, OR
Attend a college, university, or training program located in Massachusetts
In addition, eligible students must meet one of the following:
1.Students must have completed at least their freshman year of college (24 credits) the semester before theinternship or have graduated within the past year.
2.Graduate students must be currently enrolled in their program or have completed it within the last year.
3.If a student has attended a training program, that program must have been completed within the last year.
